What's new at The Rock Stop ?

Grab a coffee, learn how mountains are made and get to grips with the rocks under your feet

11:00am - 4:30pm, 7 days a week
Hot and cold drinks, delicious home bakes and croft made soup

In collaboration with the British Geological Society in Edinburgh we have produced a new video for the Rock Stop. Fly through our amazing landscape and catch a glimpse of the building blocks of Scotland...

Look out for our very first Geopod .....

If you have recently passed Rhiconich on the main A838 near Kinlochbervie you might have noticed an interesting new structure by the side of the road. It is the first of several “Geopods” to be installed through the North West Highlands Geopark providing information and shelter in a low impact sustainable structure.

The location of the Geopod has been carefully chosen to combine safe roadside parking, easy access and mobile phone coverage so that information panels can be complimented by on-line content. The information panels have maps, describe the landscape and its heritage together with some background on Geoparks in general. They also have QR-codes so that you can download more information to smart phones and tablets.
And here's our master craftsman at work..
