The Highland Council are currently discussing their 2016/2017 revenue budget and examining areas where savings can be made.
The Countryside Ranger service has been ear-marked as a possible savings opportunity, read more from the Highland Council directly here.
The North West Highlands Geopark have written to the Highland Council in support of the Countryside Ranger service, the letter can be downloaded here: Rangers Support letter
There can be no doubt that the rangers provide invaluable contributions to tourism, schools activities, ecological monitoring, facilities management including our paths network and have been key to our area achieving UNESCO Global Geopark designation. You can support the service by backing a Facebook campaign, which although is a symbolic gesture will encourage the Rangers and demonstrate to the Highland Council the depth and breadth of the appreciation of the service.
