Kinlochbervie Pilgrim’s Trail discussion

May 24 @ 18:30 - 20:30

Free

Have you heard about the Pilgrim’s Trail project?

A core part of the ACT Geopark programme, the pilgrim’s trail project is for local communities in Scourie, Kinlochbervie, and Durness in phase one and expanding to Tongue in phase two.

It will provide inspiration to spend time in nature, learning about our heritage and taking mindful moments that will boost wellbeing and contribute to good mental health.

The first step has been to produce a Gaelic Place Names Gazetteer that catalogs names with a possible spiritual connection. This work was put together by Gemma Smith.

We are in the process of mapping these placenames and archaeological sites that may also have a spiritual element.

The next phase will be to have conversations to identify where any locally known places that people would like to share are.

Finally we have some budget to produce a wee leaflet, or other materials to help people access the stories and get the most out of each place when they visit.

Come along to hear about the findings of the Pilgrim’s Trail project, investigating the spiritual heritage of the Scourie, Kinlochbervie and Durness community council areas.

This is also an opportunity to share your own knowledge, and for the communities to decide what form the project outputs should take.

Gemma Smith will give a presentation of about 40 minutes, with a Q&A session after.
