7pm – Katie Farrell: Geology for Climbers. Ever wondered why one rock type is better than another for climbing on? Or why certain features form? Here’s your chance to find out!
8pm – Helen Steven: Helen led an expedition to Greenland in 1970 and has published a book called ‘Rising to the Challenge – a 100 years of the Ladies Scottish Climbing Club’ published by the Scottish Mountain Trust in 2010. It is not only a chronicle of the Club’s history but of women and their achievements in the context of mountaineering and a society where the role of women has changed over 100 years. Helen will be speaking of her experience and adventures over the years.
9pm – Film Screening: Extraordinary Climbs Dave MacLeod stars in a reenactment of one of the first recorded climbs in the UK. ‘Great Stack’ is off Handa Island, in the North West Highlands Geopark.
10pm til late – Greg Allen’s Mountain stories: Professional story-teller and mountaineer Greg Allen shares some daring tales of the mountains.
